United Nations (UN) Public Service Day was first celebrated in 2003. The UN’s Public Service Awards were also introduced in the same year. CARICAD became operational in 1980. This means that CARICAD has been in the vanguard of improving Governance, effectiveness and performance in the public sectors of member states for more than 40 years. That means that the CARICAD effort began more than 20 years before Public Service Day was introduced by the UN.
