Strategic Plan for Civil Defence Commission (Guyana)

CARICAD was selected as the entity to undertake an assignment to prepare a Strategic and Implementation Plan for the Civil Defence Commission of Guyana. The primary purpose of the Plan was to provide a road map for the CDC that optimized its options, projects and programmes over a four-year planning horizon. The Plan focused on priorities for the CDC and its work and offered guidance for implementation.

The strategic planning process was completed in 2014 and an Implementation Plan was developed after the draft Strategic Plan was completed. The Strategic and Implementation Plans for the CDC were based on a philosophy of Disaster Risk Management with Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) as a key concept.

The importance of the Strategic Plan for Disaster Preparedness in Guyana was specially recognized by the Prime Minister of Guyana at the opening of the 34th Meeting of CARICAD’s Board of Directors in July 2016.
