CARICAD assisted the Caribbean Public Health Agency in an exercise aimed at creating an understanding the structure of the CARICOM and OECS systems for many of its staff who were new to the regional system. CARPHA was primarily interested accessing the decision-making mechanisms of CARICOM and the OECS in pursuit of ensuring integration of Public Health considerations in all sectoral policies in the region. The report included an overview of the various Organs and Bodies of the Community, their scope and powers, as well as their procedures. It also included an overview of provisions of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas which have implications for Public Health and the CARPHA agenda. Additionally, the relevant structures and processes of the OECS were explained as well as informal mechanisms such as the Meetings of the Secretary-General and Heads of Institution, and the virtual clusters.
