Strategic Planning in CARIFORUM Public Services

 An initiative of CARICAD, CARIFORUM and the European Development Fund (EDF), the Strategic Planning in the Public Services Project sought to enable the promotion and adoption of strategic planning and management skills, systems and structures by the public sector administrations of the participating member states.

The Objective was to enhance and improve the formulation, coordination and implementation of development policies and programmes within the CARIFORUM member countries.

The project was carefully designed to provide resources, products and services that will enhance the capacity and capability of CARICAD as a specialised regional institution, for training and institutional development in public and civil society organisations. The project  also expanded and enhancee reform efforts among public sector entities, while strengthening collaboration among CARIFORUM Member States and other key institutions.

 Elements of the Project:

• Training of Public Sector Managers in Strategic Management
• The establishment of a Working Group on Public Sector Reform Comprising representatives of CARIFORUM Member States, the European Commission, CARIFORUM Secretariat and cooperating agencies
• Delivery of training in Strategic Planning courses through Distance Learning
• A Strategic planning network to support more effective policy implementation across CARIFORUM Member States.
